Operations

The layout operates with CTC control, under the direction of a Dispatcher.  A variety of jobs are available for operators possessing differing skills, proficiency levels and interests. Up to 7 operators can participate in a three-hour stress-free operating session, running yard transfers, freight manifests, locals, turns, and dedicated switch jobs.

The prevailing power on the layout is made up of Missouri Pacific “Neff Blue” locomotives. A collection of foreign road power for the M-K-T, Frisco, Norfolk & Western, Alton & Southern, and Terminal Railroad Association also calls the layout home, and a pair of freshly painted Manufacturer’s Railway MP15DCs can be seen working the brewery.

Locomotives are sound-equipped for your aural satisfaction.

Bid for the Dispatcher Job and control train movement on the computer-simulated CTC panel. Run the yard, building, classifying, and exchanging cars with locals and yard transfers. Sign up for the extra board to operate various road jobs and move mountains of freight while you negotiate the mainline around the entire layout.

See the Documentation page for Job Descriptions, Operations Manual, and other information for crew members.
