Featuring Missouri Pacific St. Louis Terminal Division Operations

LOCAL JOBS
ZONE 10 (MoPac RR)
Stir up some lime dust as you move cement hoppers through the loader, make some car moves between the cement plant, quarry, and local yard, then run the LIME TURN, a local that exchanges cars at the quarry, yard, cement plant, and ready-mix company. Don’t forget to stop by Ewing Yard to drop off and pick up a few (cars). This job should keep you busy.
Stress level/experience level = moderate. Lots of switching but you can work at your own pace.
ZONE 2 (MoPac RR)
Gateway Steel, LaFarge Tubular, Pillsbury Milling, and Eastern Electric Wire need switching. The inbound local has to be broken apart, inter-plant and local moves made, and the outbound local needs to be built so it can return to Ewing Ave. Yard. And don’t forget to work the scrap and coal train. We don’t want you to be bored. What could be easier?
Stress/experience level = medium. Lots of switching. Requires concentration, but you can work at your own pace.
EWING AVENUE SWITCH CREW
Service multiple customers located near the yard, operating several locals.
Stress/experience level = medium. Some jobs may tie up the main line, so plan ahead and work efficiently.
ZONE 3 (MRS RR) & PURINA TURN (T.R.R.A. )
Work for 2 different Saint Louis railroads, the Manufacturer’s Railway (MRS) and the Terminal RR Association of St. Louis (T.R.R.A.) The Zone 3 Local just arrived, so start your shift reporting to Zone 3 to switch the brewery lumber yard. Return the Zone 3 train to 23rd Street Yard, and classify your train. Finally, change hats (and railroads) and run the T.R.R.A.’s Purina Turn to work Purina Mills, Wharf Street customers, and stop by Ewing Yard to pick up and drop off before terminating your train Eastside.
Stress/experience level = medium. Lots of switching. Requires concentration, but you can mostly work at your own pace.
EXTRA BOARD
The Extra Board crew member will operate a variety of trains over the division mainlines, which may include yard transfers, scheduled freights, excursions, short locals, MOW jobs, etc.
Stress/experience level = easy. Light switching. Run lots of trains, chat with other operators, and check out the snacks.
YARDMASTER & DISPATCHER JOBS
EWING AVE YARDMASTER (MoPac RR)
Be the boss of the yard as you control train movement at Ewing Ave. Yard, the most active yard on the layout, and exchange cars at Zone 5.
Brochure: Ewing Ave Yard Operations
Stress/experience level = medium. It’s a moderately busy yard with 6 stub-ended classification tracks and 2 Arrival/Departure tracks, plus engine service and caboose track.
DISPATCHER
Efficiently control traffic flow over the layout from a computer-generated CTC Panel and facilitate effective train movement by communicating with yard and train crews. Easy-peasy. Have fun with it.
Stress/experience level = medium. Great job for someone wanting to learn dispatching.
